FUNCTION:
The HR Specialist will support the HR Department, including payroll processing, in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations.
The Specialist will be responsible for a wide range of HR and Payroll functions, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, providing support to employees, and contributing to various HR and Payroll initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute HR and Payroll programs including but not limited to payroll, compensation, benefits (including open enrollment), occupational health and safety, training, preboarding and onboarding.
Handle internal and external HR related inquiries and requests from employees and managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate teammate.
Maintain electronic files for employees and their documents, including I9 records.
Assist VP of HR with VGP Wellness and Safety Program initiatives, including leading committees Generate HR/Payroll reports and metrics for VP of HR and Leadership Support new hire pre-employment, onboarding, recruiting, and Org Development tasks as needed.
Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
Conduct training with all employees regarding payroll policy and procedures.
Assist VP of HR in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
Keep up to date with latest HR trends and best practices by maintaining knowledge of regulatory changes, laws, and new technologies in HR/Payroll Be professionally committed to continuous development within the HR field.
Work independently AND within a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects Follows all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adheres to all policies and procedures as specified in Employee Handbook Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must be committed to and take a pro-active approach to our Company Mission, Vision, and Values Proficient understanding of HR and Payroll functions, laws, and best practices Outstanding knowledge of MS Office, HRIS and Payroll systems; (Paycom) will be a plus.
Strong empathy and interpersonal skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills Must be committed to acting with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Must be able to work overtime as needed.
Ability to travel to other company locations, trainings, and events as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in HR, Psychology, or related field and 3 years of progressive HR/Payroll experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
PHR or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification required (or commitment to obtain within 1 year of employment) Background check, pre-employment and drug testing required.
Valid DL with no driving restrictions and clean MVR required.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
