Job Description Johnson County District Court has an opportunity for counsel to provide appointed legal services for our Veterans Treatment Court cases under the County financed contract system.
One applicant will be selected for this contract and will be expected to attend staffings and docket calls every other WednesdayThe chosen applicant will provide out-of-court representation to program participants and will represent program participants at revocation hearings in Division 18Those interested must submit a signed digital version of the attached Application to Provide Legal Services, along with a copy of your resume, to email protected no later than January 30, 2024, at 5PMPlease note - This opening is for a contract of $9,000 annually and will be awarded to one applicantThis contract will be up for renewal on February 1, 2026Job Requirements Job Requirements:
The contracts are for two years in length, beginning February 1, 2024Attorneys are independent contractors, subject only to Supreme Court Rule 226, the Rules Relating to DisciplineCaseloads and workloads are assigned and adjusted by the courtThe contract attorneys will be selected by a systematic process administered by the Chief Judge, Judge McCarthy and Court Administrator Laura BrewerOverall legal/professional qualifications will be emphasizedExtensive experience or background in treatment courts is not required but is preferredThe contract attorneys will be expected to participate in ongoing education in area of treatment court modalities or veteran services on an annual basisApplicants must submit the signed original Application to Provide Legal Services, along with a copy of your resume, to Judge Timothy McCarthy at email:
